Practice Area:

Mr. Ji Liu manages patent infringement litigation, patent invalidation, administrative litigation, patent searches, and consulting services. He received training in European and U.S. patent law and practices at leading law firms in Germany and the United States. In 2013, he studied U.S. intellectual property laws at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York. That same year, as a representative of the All-China Patent Agents Association, he accompanied former Commissioner Mr. Tian Lipu to a liaison meeting with the American Bar Association and delivered a presentation.
Mr. Liu has successfully handled over a thousand patent prosecution cases and dozens of patent invalidation and litigation cases, many involving renowned multinational companies. A civil patent infringement case he handled was selected as one of the top 10 typical IP cases by Tianjin courts in 2018.

Representative Cases:

2024–2025: Represented a well-known enterprise in administrative litigation against a patent invalidation decision in the automotive primary oil field; won at both Beijing IP Court and Supreme People's Court, revoking the original decision; CNIPA re-issued invalidation decision declaring the patent entirely invalid.
2021–2025: Represented a famous Italian and German steel enterprise in defending against patent infringement claims by a Japanese steel company; involved complex legal issues; selected as a model case by the Supreme People's Court IP Court; heard over two days during IP Week; Supreme People's Court reversed the first-instance judgment in late 2025, resulting in victory.
2022–2024: Led litigation team representing a famous Chinese automotive enterprise in defending patent infringement on auto parts; Supreme People's Court IP Court reversed Beijing IP Court first-instance judgment, resulting in victory.
2020–2024: Led litigation team providing patent infringement litigation and invalidation services to a Chinese machinery manufacturer; all patents of the opposing party invalidated; won all related infringement litigations.
2023: Represented a Zhejiang medical device company; won retrial at Supreme People's Court, revoking prior judgments.
2020–present: Represented a famous Japanese printer company in patent infringement cases at Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai IP Courts, and Supreme People's Court; achieved full victories; also provided and completed non-litigation solutions.
2021: Represented a Swiss navigation chip company in patent infringement and anti-unfair competition cases.
2021: Led litigation team for a Chinese LED industry giant in patent infringement litigation and invalidation; total claimed damages reached RMB 160 million; involved responses, invalidations, and counterclaims.
2021: Represented a Fujian canned food company in anti-unfair competition case; forced withdrawal by presenting overwhelming evidence of good faith.
2020–2021: Led litigation team for a Chinese medical device manufacturer; opposing party's patent fully invalidated.
2019: Represented a Shanghai internet company; won patent invalidation, invalidating competitor's core patent.
2018: Represented a well-known Hangzhou e-commerce company; won patent infringement lawsuit; case selected as one of Tianjin Higher People's Court's top 10 typical IP cases in 2018.
