The new Trade Mark Directive of the European Union was published in the EU Official Journal of 23 December 2015 and the new European Union Trade Mark Regulation was published on 24 December 2015.

The new Directive will enter into force by mid-January and its transposition into national laws will be made within three years. The new Regulation will enter into force 90 days after its publication, i.e. on 23 March 2016.
