Order No. 183 of the General Administration of
Customs of China Announced

The General Administration of Customs of China recently promulgates the Order No. 183, i.e. the new Measures of the General Administration of Customs of P.R.C. for Implementation of the Regulation of Customs Protection of Intellectual Property Right. The said Order No. 183 is the Amendment to the Order No. 114 of The General Administration of Customs of China. The Order No. 183 will come into effect as of July 1 of 2009. At the same time, the Order No. 114 published in 2004 will be abolished.

The said new Measures include the general provisions, the archive filing of intellectual property rights, the detainment upon application, the ex officio investigation and treatment, disposal of goods and fees, and supplementary provisions, a total of 6 chapters and 43 articles.
