Founder
Claims 100 Million Yuan from Blizzard
Beijing
Founder Electronics, a subsidiary of the Founder Group, has brought
lawsuit against the US-based Blizzard Entertainment and the Shanghai
The9 Limited over alleged copyright infringement before the Beijing
High People's Court. Founder claimed 100 million Yuan, one of the largest
amount ever sought by a Chinese company against a foreign company in
an IPR dispute in recent years.
According
to a Founder executive, Blizzard's online game, World of Warcraft has
been illegally copying and using five fonts without Founder's consent,
which is an outright infringement of Founder's copyright. According
to its preliminary estimate, Founder suffered a loss of over one billion
Yuan because of the infringement.
