Two WIPO Conventions Approved

On December 29, 2006, the tenth National People's Congress Standing Committee passed two decisions on China's participation of the WIPO Copyright Convention and WIPO Show and Recorded Product Convention.

At the time of approving China's participation of the above two conventions, the National People's Congress Standing Committee stated that before notified otherwise by Chinese government, they are for the time not applicable to the Hong Kong SAR and the Macau SAR. In addition, Chinese government is not bounded by the Rule 1, Article 15 of WIPO's Show and Recorded Product Convention.
