Receives More Than 800,000 Trademark Applications in 2005
According
to the latest statistics announced by the Trademark Office (TMO) under
the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) of China,
in the year 2005, China received a total of 838,000 various trademark
applications, a 10 percent growth over the previous year.
Among
which, 664,000 were trademark applications for registration, mounted
up 12.9 percent from the same period of 2004. The amount of trademark
registration applications in China hit 4,220,000, ranking the first
place worldwide in the past four consecutive years. The year 2005 also
saw 476,000 trademark review and adjudication applications. Till the
end of 2005, registered trademarks in China numbered 2,499,000.
In addition, during the one and a half year of special campaign for
protecting the exclusive right to use trademark finished at the end
of 2005, Administrations for Industry and Commerce (AICs) at all levels
throughout China investigated and handled altogether 87,352 cases concerning
trademark infringements.
