Leads Developing Countries in Trademark Applications
According
to the statistics from the World Intellectual Property Organization
(WIPO), China filed 1,334 applications for the international registration
of trademarks, representing an increase of 31.4 percent over 2004.
According
to WIPO, the overall applications from developing countries in 2005
increased by 30.6 percent over 2004, with China topping the list. The
largest share of the applications was filed by Germany with 5,802 applications,
taking 17.3 percent of the total, followed by France with 3,497 applications
and the United States of America with 2,847 applications. China is the
eighth country in the list, taking four percent of the total international
trademark registrations.
