Makes Record in PCT Applications in 2005
According
to the website of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), 134,073
PCT applications were filed by different countries and regions in 2005,
representing an increase of 9.4 percent over 2004.
The
United States of America, Japan, Germany and France were the top four
PCT countries of filing most PCT applications. With 2,452 PCT applications
in 2005, a growth of 43.7 percent compared with 2004, China surpassed
Canada, Italy and Australia and became one of the top ten countries
of filing most PCT applications.
Among the top twenty companies of filing most PCT applications, seven
were from the United States of America. With 2,492 PCT applications
in 2005, the Dutch Philips Electronics N.V. was came out top again,
followed by Matsushita (Japan), Siemens (Germany), Nokia (Finland) and
Bosch (Germany).
Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics from Korea ranked the top two
PCT companies filing most PCT applications among their counterparts
from developing countries. Huawei Technologies and ZTE Corporation from
China ranked the third and the ninth in the list.
