Marks Owned by Japanese Companies Recognized as
Well-known Marks

In June 2005, the China Trademark Office issued a list of 64 marks recognized as well-known trademarks. Among the recognized marks, 59 marks were recognized during the course of trademark infringement dispute resolution, and 5 marks were recognized in the course of trademark opposition.

Noticeably, two marks owned by Japanese companies, "Nissan" owned by Japanese automaker Nissan Motor, and "YKK" owned by Japanese zipper maker YKK, were recognized. These two marks are the first marks owned by Japanese companies being recognized as well-known trademarks.

Additionally, the French bandname "YSL YVES SAINT LAURENT" was also listed in Class 25.
